Frequently Asked Questions About:
FTP ACCESS
Back to FAQ's
a. What is FTP?
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is the most popular
way for transferring files across the 'Net.
b. Where do I get an FTP CLIENT?
To start with, an FTP client is a program that use the internet
"File Transfer Protocol" (or FTP) to send or receive
files. HostMe! provides technical support for both WS_FTP
and CuteFTP. Our servers, however, will accept connections
from ANY FTP client, or file transfer client which uses the
FTP protocol. Our on-line manual has step by step instructions
on where to download (for free), how to install, and use both
WS_FTP and CuteFTP.
c. I have a Mac. How do I get my files
to and from you?
Mac's use a program called "Fetch" to FTP files
to and from servers. We do not offer technical support for
this software, but we do have a few Mac clients and they use
fetch with no problems on our servers.
